John McPherson is a senior
consultant with Ann Green Communications. John facilitates community
advisory groups in the Northeast and Midwest. His clients include major
chemical, oil and electric utility companies. In addition, John works with
environmental stakeholders, provides media- and client-specific research,
and specialized communications training. John spent 20 years as a television
journalist, working on both sides of the camera as reporter, anchor and
newsroom manager. During this time John covered numerous major stories,
including the space shuttle Challenger disaster, the explosion of the
Phillips oil refinery, the explosion of the Arco-Lyondell plant, the fire of
the oil tanker Mega Borg, international economic summits and the war in El
Salvador. John headed investigative units in Houston and Orlando, where his
investigative and environmental reporting won some of the most prestigious
awards in television, including awards from the Associated Press
Broadcasters, Radio-Television News Directors Association, a Headliners
Award, and an Emmy® award. John’s documentary on the effects of the illegal
dumping of toxic waste, The Chemical People, won the Gold Award at the
Houston International Film Festival. His investigative work exposing Iraq’s
network for the illicit procurement of chemical and biological weapons
components in the United States won several awards and was featured on the
NBC News magazine Dateline. A native of Pittsburgh, John is a graduate of
West Virginia University. He is a competitive fencer.
